I did it. I hit the stores on Black Friday. I got up. I shopped. I dropped. Seriously.
This is the first year I have gone shopping without a list. Or without a clue what I should get anyone for Christmas. This year I let the sales make my list. I bought toys I didn't even know existed but I couldn't pass them up because surely they would never be priced so low again.
The one thing I did set out to find was the Flippin' Frogs game. Isaac has seen the commercial numerous times and has consistently voiced his longing for ownership of the game. In fact, as I type, he just said to Jeremiah, "Dad, I love Flippin' Frogs." Out of nowhere! So I know one boy who will super happy come Christmas morning.
And I am happy that I am done with Santa's Christmas shopping. That's right, D.O.N.E. I did it ALL in one fell swoop. I even got my Christmas out of the way saving Jeremiah from that annual outing on Christmas Eve to sort through picked-over shelves and racks looking for the perfect doesn't-look-like-I-waited-til-the-last-minute gift. I'm nice that way.
When I finally got to bed on Friday night I asked Jeremiah for a foot rub. I was so tired that I'm certain I fell asleep within seconds of him applying the lotion to the first foot. But when I woke up the next morning I could tell that he rubbed both my feet, even though I slept through the whole thing. Some gifts you get before Christmas.
