Somebody Ring the Dinner Bell

Thanksgiving is still several days away and I'm already salivating. I volunteered to host the holiday this year for Jeremiah's family and my mind has been swimming with ideas for the menu ever since. I think I've finally settled on turkey with fruit and nut stuffing, Yukon gold buttermilk-mashed potatoes with gravy, roasted sweet potatoes, carrots and squash with cinnamon butter, homemade rolls, peas (because they're tradition on Jeremiah's side,) fresh cranberry sauce, blueberry pie, peach pie, apple pie, cherry pie and pumpkin pie. It sounds like a lot of work, but since I love to cook, it sounds like fun to me and I am super excited to make it all. Plus a lot of it can be prepared or even baked ahead of time and my SIL is coming early so I will have someone to share the kitchen with. (That's right, Kelly, I'm putting you to work!)

I really can't even tell you how excited I am! This is my 8th Thanksgiving as a married woman and my first turn hosting a holiday feast. Wish me luck!

You're going to do wonderfully. The menu sounds sublime! I hosted last year and really liked it. This year I'm headed to my mom's and all I'm in charge of is a pecan pie. Do you have a good recipe?

Wow that took my breath away for a minute! You are amazing, if I do say so myself. Oh by the way can Blake and I come for dinner, it sounds soooo yummy my mouth is watering already. I want some of the reciepes that is for sure. Please share some with me. Good luck, ( not that you need it or anything, you will do fine).

I get to "host" this year as well, BUT my mom is bringing all the food. I think I'm responsible for a few dishes but other than that...I have to CLEAN! YUK! I think I'd rather try my hand at a turkey instead. :o/

And yes I can tell by comments you have left in various other blogs and facebook that your tummy might be grumbling a little bit! ...Ok...actually I can hear it all the way here in Ut.

I look forward to hearing your rave review of dear old turkey day!
