The Next Cinderella
Yesterday was kind of a rough day for me. The kids went into we-don't-have-to-mind mode and I went in to I-don't-have-to-be-nice mode. Kenley must have really been affected by my bad mood.
When I met her in the hallway after Primary she showed me the paper and yarn necklace that she received in class. "Mine Fairy Godmother gave this to me!" I laughed but didn't think much of it. After we arrived home I told Kenley she needed to remove the real necklace that I had let her wear to church. "But mine Fairy Godmother told me mine necklace was beautiful!"
So, just to be clear: Mom=Wicked stepmother, Nice Primary teacher = Fairy Godmother.

I just loved this one. You may be the wicked stepmother, but I was the Wicked Witch of the West. Must be genetic. So glad Kenley has someone looking out for her. Does Nice Primary teacher wear a pink fluffy dress and wear a tiara?
:0)
You're not alone. When Alli was about four, she went through a phase in which she actually called me Stepmother when referring to me or answering me. It was funny until she started doing it in public with her head bowed low like I'd beaten the spirit right out of her.
Don't worry, I am sure your role will evolve over time. You just don't have any say in what it will become.
BTW - I love the photo of Kenley. She is a perfect blend of you two.
